When God Gives an Order

When God Gives an Order

2. FULL STORY β€” PART 1

The small radio station was quiet that afternoon, except for the soft hum of the equipment and the voice of the host coming through the speakers.

It was a program where ordinary people could call in, share their struggles, and ask for prayers or encouragement.

That day, a poor woman called.

Her voice was gentle, but there was a sadness behind every word.

She explained that she was struggling to provide food for herself and her family.

She had prayed for help, believing that somehow God would make a way.

β€œI don’t know what we’re going to eat,” she admitted. β€œBut I’m trusting God. He has never forgotten me before.”

The radio host listened carefully and offered her words of encouragement.

What the woman didn’t know was that someone else was listening.

A wealthy man sitting in his luxurious office had heard the entire conversation.

He was an outspoken atheist, and instead of feeling compassion for the woman’s situation, he laughed.

β€œSo she thinks God is going to send her groceries?” he said sarcastically.

The man had more money than he could ever spend. He could have helped the woman without noticing the cost.

But he wasn’t interested in helping her.

He wanted to prove a point.

An idea suddenly came to him.

He picked up his phone and called his secretary.

β€œI want you to go to the grocery store,” he ordered. β€œBuy enough food to fill this woman’s kitchen. Everything she could possibly need.”

The secretary was surprised.

β€œOf course. Where should I have it delivered?”

The wealthy man gave him the woman’s address.

Then he leaned back in his chair with a satisfied smile.

β€œBut there’s one condition.”

β€œWhat is it?”

β€œIf she asks who sent the groceries,” the man said, β€œtell her they came from the devil.”

The secretary hesitated.

He knew exactly what his employer was trying to do.

Still, he agreed.

The groceries were purchased and loaded into a vehicle.

Soon, they were on their way to the woman’s modest home.

Neither the secretary nor his employer could have imagined what the woman would say when the food arrived.

3. FULL STORY β€” PART 2

When the groceries finally arrived, the woman opened her door and stared in disbelief.

Bag after bag was being carried inside.

Rice.

Bread.

Milk.

Canned goods.

Fresh vegetables.

Fruit.

Meat.

Everything she needed, and more.

For a moment, she simply stood there.

Then her face brightened.

She clasped her hands together and quietly thanked God.

β€œI knew He wouldn’t forget me,” she whispered.

The secretary watched her reaction from the doorway.

He had expected her to be suspicious.

Instead, she looked genuinely grateful.

She immediately began putting the groceries away, carefully organizing everything in her small kitchen.

The secretary couldn’t help but smile.

But he still had an instruction to follow.

As the last bags were placed inside, curiosity finally got the better of him.

β€œMa’am,” he asked, β€œdon’t you want to know who sent all of this?”

The woman paused.

She looked at him for a moment, then smiled.

β€œNo,” she answered.

The secretary was confused.

β€œYou don’t?”

She shook her head.

β€œNot really.”

He glanced at the overflowing kitchen.

β€œWhy not?”

The woman gently placed another bag on the counter.

β€œBecause I already know.”

The secretary raised an eyebrow.

β€œYou do?”

She nodded.

β€œI asked God for help.”

The secretary suddenly remembered the wealthy man’s instructions.

He took a breath.

β€œWell… if you really want to know, I was told to tell you that these groceries came from the devil.”

He expected shock.

Maybe anger.

Maybe disappointment.

Instead, the woman smiled even wider.

She looked around at the food filling her kitchen and then looked back at the secretary.

β€œOh,” she said calmly. β€œThere’s no need to worry about that.”

The secretary stared at her.

β€œWhy?”

Her answer left him speechless.

4. FULL STORY β€” PART 3

The woman folded her hands and looked toward the ceiling.

β€œBecause when God gives an order,” she said, β€œeven the devil has to obey.”

The secretary didn’t know what to say.

He had come expecting to deliver a cruel joke on behalf of a wealthy man.

Instead, he had heard a statement of faith that he knew he would never forget.

The woman hadn’t focused on the identity of the person who purchased the groceries.

She had focused on the answer to her prayer.

To her, the important thing wasn’t the hands that carried the bags through her door.

It was the fact that she had asked God for helpβ€”and help had arrived.

The secretary stood silently for a moment.

He thought about the wealthy man sitting in his comfortable office, convinced that he had outsmarted a poor woman and disproved her faith.

But the joke suddenly didn’t seem funny anymore.

The wealthy man had tried to use his money to mock God.

Yet the very money he had spent had become the answer to a desperate woman’s prayer.

He had intended to prove that God wouldn’t help her.

Instead, he had unknowingly become part of the help she received.

The secretary eventually thanked the woman and left.

As he drove back, her words continued to echo in his mind.

β€œWhen God gives an order, even the devil has to obey.”

And for the first time, the secretary began wondering whether the woman had understood something that his employer had completely missed.

5. ENDING

That evening, the woman prepared a simple meal from the groceries she had received.

Her kitchen, which had felt empty only hours earlier, was now filled with food.

She bowed her head and prayed.

β€œThank You, God, for taking care of us.”

She didn’t pray against the wealthy man.

She didn’t curse him for mocking her.

She simply gave thanks.

Meanwhile, somewhere across town, the wealthy atheist sat in his office thinking about what had happened.

He had spent his money trying to make a poor woman feel foolish for believing in God.

But his plan had failed.

The woman hadn’t been humiliated.

She hadn’t lost faith.

Instead, she had received exactly what she had prayed for.

Sometimes people think they can control how a blessing arrives.

They assume it must come through someone kind, someone generous, or someone who shares their beliefs.

But sometimes help comes through the most unexpected person.

And sometimes, what someone intends as an act of mockery can become the very thing that strengthens another person’s faith.

The woman had understood that perfectly.

She didn’t care who carried the groceries to her door.

She cared that her prayer had been answered.

When God gives an order, even the devil has to obey.Β
