Recommendation for contract farming to find fallow land abroad

The parliamentary committee has recommended to take measures for ‘contract farming’ by finding fallow agricultural lands in different countries of the world. The recommendation was made at the 16th meeting of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs held at the Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday (February 10th).

After the meeting, committee chairman Muhammad Farooq Khan told Jago News. He said there are agricultural lands in different parts of the world. The committee recommended contract farming to find them.

The meeting discussed the latest progress of Rohingya repatriation. It is recommended that representatives of the United Nations and development agencies be invited to inspect the Rohingya repatriation activities in Bhasanchar between February and March this year.

The newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Ethiopia presented the action plan. The committee then recommended strengthening trade-economic-political relations between the two countries.

In the presence of the representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau, the meeting discussed the report on the export statistics of Bangladesh. The meeting recommended setting export targets involving Bangladeshi missions abroad as well as taking necessary steps to expand products and markets.

The Foreign Minister, State Minister and Ministry of External Affairs were greeted at the meeting for timely receipt of Covid-19 vaccine from India. At the same time, it was recommended to take initiative to import vaccines from other organizations approved by the World Health Organization and to keep the process of importing vaccines from India going.
